Government Partners

Federal Affairs

We serve as the primary link between Emory University and the federal government.

• We advocate on behalf of Emory's specific project goals, as well as its larger policy objectives.
• We work to maintain productive working relationships with members of Congress, key congressional staff, and representatives of the executive branch and federal agencies. We promote the university's accomplishments on Capitol Hill and within the administration to improve the federal government's understanding of Emory's many contributions to society.
• By working with our internal advisory groups and the national educational, medical, and research associations, we drive the process to formulate Emory's policy positions on issues related to higher education and academic and medical research.

State Affairs

We represent Emory University and Emory Healthcare across the state government system.

We serve as the official liaison between Emory and Georgia's legislative, executive, and regulatory bodies, including the Governor's Office, the Georgia General Assembly, and state agencies that administer higher education and health care programs. It is our responsibility to monitor each of these entities consistently for any legislative or regulatory changes that could impact Emory.

We strive to create new, and build upon existing, relationships with state officials and to find ways for Emory to be a continued partner with the state. Our state priorities include funding for the HOPE Scholarship and Tuition Equalization Grants, as well as legislation impacting our health care system and public transportation.

Local Affairs

Emory engages its local community in deep and diverse ways.

Emory University is committed to the success of the city of Atlanta and the metro area. The university has a long history of partnering in the areas of education, community service, culture, economic development, employment, and medical research. Emory strives to be a good neighbor and continuously contributes the time and talents of its faculty, staff, and students to Atlanta, its surrounding area, and the state of Georgia.
