As associate director of community engagement, Gardner contributes to cultivating new and existing community partnerships aligned with Emory’s strategic community engagement priorities of Health and Well-Being; Social and Economic Mobility; and Arts, Science, and Cultural Enrichment. 
Gardner has more than nine years of event-management experience. He has managed end-to-end events for the International Cherry Blossom Festival, Atlanta Police Foundation, and Atlanta Opera. 
Prior to joining the Government and Community Affairs team, Gardner worked in the Advancement and Alumni Engagement (AAE) division with Emory’s leaders, donors, and alumni. He reimagined AAE’s signature programs including the 1836 Society, Wise Heart Society, EmoryThanks, and the Woodruff Scholars and Fellows program. 
Gardner is very active in his local community. He has served as a board member of the Young Nonprofit Professional Network of Atlanta and as an event committee member for the National Black Arts Festival. He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. 
Gardner earned his BA in mass media arts from Clark Atlanta University.
