VIP Visit to EHVP

On September 9, Second Lady Karen Pence, Deputy Secretary of Defense David Norquist, Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs Pamela Powers, and Secretary of Defense’s wife Leah Esper visited the Emory Healthcare Veterans Program (EHVP) and met with faculty and staff to learn more about Emory’s innovative program. The tour included hands-on experience with the virtual reality application used in treatment, and a roundtable with a former patient and his family. We appreciate EHVP’s work, alongside our team, to make this VIP visit possible, and for their service to our veterans.

Emory in the Community

Leadership Atlanta Event

On September 9, Leadership Atlanta held a virtual event on “What is it Really Like on the COVID-19 Frontlines?” It featured an expert panel of speakers, including Dr. Jodie Guest, Professor in Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health and Katie Casey, ICU Nurse Practitioner at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital. We appreciate our experts taking time to engage with the Atlanta community.

Atlanta Global Research & Education Collaborative (AGREC)

In the spring of 2020, Emory University’s Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives, with support from OGCA, engaged the Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC) to create The Atlanta Global research and Education Collaborative (AGREC).  AGREC seeks to build and strengthen collaborative networks of multi-institutional scholars and practitioners to support global research and education initiatives in the Greater Atlanta region. Learn more about this initiative and funding opportunities here.

Emory’s CBSC Partnership

The OGCA team applauds the work of Emory’s Community Building and Social Change Fellows (CBSC) program. In partnership with the Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS), CBSC presented to the Brookhaven City Council last month. The partnership supports the Cross Keys Sustainable Neighborhood Initiative (CKSNI), encouraging affordable housing strategies in the area, and has garnered interest from local policy makers.
