Health Study Committees Underway Two House study committees focused on healthcare policy have begun meeting ahead of the 2027 legislative session. OGCA is carefully monitoring and engaging in discussions on issues important to Emory’s tripartite mission.
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Community Health and Healthcare Oversight has met twice, beginning with presentations from state health agencies on their programs, priorities and current needs. The committee’s second meeting focused on physician recruitment and retention pipelines, as well as EMS governance and funding, with significant discussion around graduate medical education funding and strategies to strengthen Georgia’s healthcare workforce.
The House Study Committee on Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBMs) and Consumer Access to Prescription Medications also held its first meeting, with discussions centered on the 340B Drug Pricing Program and PBM reform. The meeting underscored continued legislative interest in prescription drug access and the evolving role of PBMs in the healthcare system. |
